The invention relates to an autonomous driving method for autonomously driving a motorized land vehicle, referred to as a self-vehicle 102, by means of adaptive speed adjustment established on the basis of a target speed. The method can detect a first target vehicle 104 and can calculate a correlation indicator for the first target vehicle 104, the correlation indicator being configured to characterize a probability of presence of the first target vehicle. Upon detecting a loss of detection of the first target vehicle 104 and when the correlation indicator is greater than a predetermined deselection value, the method calculates an autonomous driving setpoint based on motion information of the first target vehicle 104, the target speed, and a speed of the ego vehicle 102.
