A subcooler for a subcooled low temperature fueling system is disclosed herein. The subcooler includes a first valve that separates flowing cryogenic fuel into the primary flow line and the secondary flow line, a second valve that reduces saturation pressure and temperature of the cryogenic fuel in the secondary flow line, a cryogenic heat exchanger that transfers heat from the primary flow line to the secondary flow line, a temperature sensor that measures a temperature of subcooled cryogenic fuel in the primary flow line; and a subcooler controller that controls an active region of the primary flow line inlet and the secondary flow line inlet at the first valve.
