A method of installing a camera unit including an imaging device and an optical system that forms an optical image on a light receiving surface of the imaging device, in which the light receiving surface includes a first region and a second region on a peripheral side of the first region, wherein an increase in image height with respect to a unit half view angle in the first region is greater than an increase in image height with respect to a unit half view angle in the second region, and wherein the optical system and the imaging device are deployed such that a center of gravity of the first region is offset from a center of the light receiving surface in a first direction, and wherein the method includes installing the camera unit such that the first direction points to a region outside a predetermined target region.
