The present disclosure provides a powered vehicle that selectively deactivates a limited power mode based on an acceleration request. The present disclosure relates to an electrically powered vehicle configured to selectively deactivate a limited power mode based on an acceleration request, such as an impending or current acceleration request. A corresponding method is also disclosed. An example powered vehicle includes a battery and a controller configured to apply a limited power mode when a state of health of the battery is below a predefined lower threshold. Further, when in the limited power mode, the controller is configured to limit an amount of power drawn from the battery. In addition, the controller is configured to selectively deactivate the limited power mode in response to a signal indicating that a current or impending acceleration request of the powered vehicle needs to draw power from the battery above an upper limit of the limited power mode.
