The invention discloses a double-focal-plane vehicle-mounted head-up display system based on a single optical engine and a vehicle, and the system comprises the optical engine which is used for emitting light beams, and the light beams comprise a first light beam and a second light beam; the diffraction optical waveguide is used for carrying out coupling and beam expanding on the light beams incident from the entrance pupil region and transmitting the light beams incident from other regions; the windshield glass is used for reflecting a light beam emitted by the diffracted optical waveguide; the first lens group is arranged between the optical engine and an optical path of the diffraction optical waveguide and is used for forming a first optical path through the first light beam; and the second lens group is arranged between the optical engine and an optical path of the diffraction optical waveguide and is used for forming a second optical path through the second light beam, and an amplification module is arranged on the second optical path and is used for carrying out secondary amplification on the second light beam. The double-focal-plane virtual image display effect can be achieved through a single optical engine, and the overall size of the system can be smaller.
