A model generation device according to one aspect of the present invention trains a search module by machine learning by providing a training map as an input map for each learning data set in such a manner that a path searched by the search module is adapted to a recommended path indicated by correct answer information. During machine learning, the model generation device directly calculates the extracted operation and the selected operation in the forward propagation stage, and during the reverse propagation stage, replaces the extracted operation and the selected operation with differentiable substitution operations, and calculates the extracted operation and the selected operation by means of the differential calculation of the substituted substitution operations. An approximate gradient corresponding to the differential calculation of each of the extracted calculation and the selected calculation is calculated.
