The invention relates to analysis and calculation of vehicle speed in traffic accident research, in particular to a method for calculating the instantaneous driving speed of a vehicle by using a virtual midpoint pixel interpolation algorithm under the condition that a certain included angle (non-90 degrees) exists between the projection direction of a camera and the driving path of the vehicle. The method is characterized in that the concept of a virtual midpoint is introduced when the driving speed of the vehicle is calculated by using pixel points, the problem of nonuniformity that the pixel points represent the actual distance is solved to a certain extent, and the method is not influenced by the projection angle of a camera. In addition, the speed result is obtained by calculating a relationship between a moving pixel distance and a unit pixel distance of a virtual midpoint within a time interval per frame. The method can be used for research on vehicle running speed analysis related to traffic accidents and the like.
