The invention relates to a method for producing an arched fiber composite component. According to the invention, the preform is formed with a planar fibrous layer arrangement formed along the arch structure, said planar fibrous layer arrangement having an outer edge associated with the convex outer side of the arch structure. According to the invention, the outer edge is formed with recesses extending into the planar fiber layer arrangement in such a way that the contours of the recesses approach, at least in sections, a target contour of a cutout to be provided in each case in the fiber composite component. The preform is deformed in such a way that at least one first region of the flat fibrous layer arrangement, which adjoins the outer edge and extends substantially in the direction of the arch, is bent or bent relative to a second region of the flat fibrous layer arrangement, which adjoins the first region facing away from the outer side of the arch. When the deformed preform is formed, the recess of the preform before deformation transitions into the recess of the deformed preform and remains open. The invention further relates to a preform for producing an arch-shaped fiber composite component by means of such a method. The invention can in particular contribute to saving materials and working steps and avoiding leftover materials during the production of fiber composite components.
