The invention relates to an airfoil of an aerodynamic surface, the airfoil comprising: a control surface comprising an upper surface and a lower surface; and an actuation device configured to raise or lower the control surface, and wherein at least a portion of one of the upper and lower surfaces of the control surface is auxetic, having a negative Poisson's ratio, and the other of the upper and lower surfaces of the control surface comprises a material having a higher Poisson's ratio. The invention also relates to an aerodynamic surface comprising at least one such airfoil.
