The invention relates to a redundant brake system for a heavy vehicle, which is an electropneumatic brake system for a motor vehicle, having a service brake device and a parking brake device, the electropneumatic brake system comprising: front and rear axle brake modules (FBM, RBM), each of which comprises an electrical control input (E1) and a pneumatic control input (E2); a first bistable relay valve (1), possibly a second bistable relay valve (2) to supply the trailer; first and second pressure control devices (4, 5) for generating first and second pressures (P1, P2); first and second service brake backup lines (8F, 8R) for supplying pneumatic control inputs of the front and rear axle brake modules; an exchange device (3) configured to selectively connect a first pressure to the input of the first bistable relay valve or to the first service brake backup line, and to connect a second pressure to the input of the second bistable relay valve or to the second service brake backup line.
