A power train (1) comprises: a first electric motor (M1); a second electric motor (M2); and a transmission system (2), the transmission system (2) comprises a first input shaft (3) drivably connected to a first electric motor (M1), a second input shaft (5) drivably connected to a second electric motor (M2), a first gear train (9) comprising a first gear element (11) rotatably mounted on the first input shaft (3) and a second gear element (13) rotatably mounted on the second input shaft (5), comprising a third gear element (17) rotatably mounted on the first input shaft (3) and a fourth gear element (19) rotatably mounted on the second input shaft (5), a gear selector assembly (37) arranged to selectively lock the first and third gear elements (11, 12), 17) to rotate with the first input shaft (3) or selectively lock the second and fourth gear elements (13, 19) to rotate with the second input shaft (5), wherein the gear selector assembly (37, 39) is arranged to selectively lock its respective gear elements (11, 17; 13, 19) with its respective shaft (3; 5), comprising the following modes: locking the gear elements (11, 17; 13, 19) to be coupled to the shaft (3; 5) together; the locking gear elements (11, 17; 13, 19) to be coupled to the shaft (3; 5) without being locked in the reverse torque direction; and locking the gear elements (11, 17; 13, 19) to be coupled to the shaft (3; 5) without being locked in the forward torque direction.
