The invention relates to the technical field of forklift steering, and discloses an electric steering system of an electric forklift, which comprises a steering axle assembly, a steering wheel assembly, a left drive axle, a right drive axle and a controller assembly, and is characterized in that the steering wheel assembly is provided with a torque sensor for detecting the rotation angle of a steering wheel and outputting steering damping; when the torque sensor detects that the rotating angle of a steering wheel is alpha, the controller assembly controls the rotating angle beta of a steering wheel of the steering axle assembly to be equal to alpha/A, the angular speed omega1 of a left driving wheel of the left driving axle to be equal to beta (cot beta-L/2)/2pirt, and the angular speed omega2 of a right driving wheel of the right driving axle to be equal to beta (cot beta + L/2)/2pirt; wherein A is the amplification coefficient of the steering wheel angle, B is the forklift wheelbase, L is the driving wheel tread, r is the driving wheel radius, and t is the steering time. Therefore, the device has the advantages of light operating force, good following performance and sensitivity, low noise, energy conservation, environmental protection, simple structure and convenience in arrangement in a vehicle.
