The rearview mirror control method comprises the steps that the distance between the vehicle and a front lane intersection is obtained; when the distance is smaller than or equal to the preset distance, the safe view distance of the rearview mirror covering the lane outside the adjacent intersection lane is obtained, and the included angle theta between the lane line of the lane in the direction where the vehicle is close to the intersection lane and the lane line inside the intersection lane is obtained; obtaining the distance from a point B, perpendicular to the current lane line of the vehicle, on the rearview mirror to an intersection point F of the outermost lane line of the intersection lane according to the cosine law, obtaining the distance from the point B to a point G based on the distance, and obtaining an included angle FBG between the distance and the intersection point F; based on the included angle FBG and the outermost side angle of the view field of the driver corresponding to the current angle of the rearview mirror, the angle of the rearview mirror to be moved towards the outer side is obtained; and the rearview mirror is controlled to move outwards by a corresponding angle. The method can help a driver to eliminate or reduce the rear view blind area of the intersection lane.
