The invention relates to a forged outer ring for a tapered roller bearing, in particular a wheel bearing, comprising: at least one first tapered ring portion having a small inner diameter and a large inner diameter, a raceway for the first group of tapered rollers is formed on the inner side of the first tapered ring part; a flange ring portion configured to attach the outer ring to the assembly; and a central ring portion disposed between the tapered ring portion and the flanged ring portion, a small inner diameter of the tapered ring portion corresponding to an inner diameter of the central ring portion, and a large inner diameter of the tapered ring portion disposed at an axial end of the outer ring opposite the flanged ring portion, the wall thickness of the bearing ring in the region of the central ring portion is substantially equal to the wall thickness (W60-1) of the bearing ring in the region of the small inner diameter of the tapered ring portion, and the wall thickness of the bearing ring at the large inner diameter is greater than the wall thickness at the small inner diameter.
