The invention relates to a tire with a magnetic tread wear sensor and a tread wear monitoring method. A tire (10) is disclosed, comprising: a tread (13) having arranged therein sacrificial magnet portions (12) exposed to tread wear, the sacrificial magnet portions (12) being provided so as to generate a first magnetic field signal that varies according to tread wear or is indicative of the thickness of the tread; a magnetisable material having a magnetization preferably non-linearly dependent on the magnetic field strength, the magnetisable material being provided so as to generate an interfering magnetic field signal so as to superimpose the first magnetic field signal; a magnetic field sensor (11) for sensing or measuring the first magnetic field signal and the superimposed interfering magnetic field signal; and a permanent magnet portion (17) arranged in proximity to the magnetisable material in order to separate an interfering magnetic field signal sensed or measured by the magnetic field sensor (11) from a first magnetic field signal sensed or measured by the magnetic field sensor (11). Also, a method of monitoring tire tread wear is disclosed.
