The present disclosure provides systems and methods for coordinating bi-directional charging events based on predicted and actual power outage. Systems and methods provided herein may coordinate and perform bi-directional energy transfer events between powered vehicles and other devices or structures. Weather-related data and/or grid-related data may be utilized to predict the likelihood of a power-off condition of a grid power supply. When a power-off condition is possible, a charge storage limit of a traction battery pack of the motorized vehicle may be automatically increased. The increased charge storage limit temporarily increases the energy storage capacity of the traction battery pack in the event of an expected power-off condition being expected, thereby better preparing the traction battery pack for use as a backup power source during the power-off condition.
