The invention relates to a method for controlling a road vehicle (1) having steered rear wheels (3), comprising the following steps when traveling along a curve: determining a desired steering angle ([alpha] TGT) of the rear wheels (3); comparing the desired steering angle ([alpha] TGT) with a threshold (TH); applying the same actual steering angle (alpha) to the two rear wheels (3), which actual steering angle (alpha) is equal to the required steering angle (alpha TGT), if the required steering angle (alpha TGT) is greater than a threshold value (TH) while traveling along the curve; and applying an actual steering angle (alpha) greater than the required steering angle (alpha TGT) to the rear wheels (3) outside the curve and an actual steering angle (alpha) of zero to the rear wheels inside the curve if the required steering angle (alpha TGT) is less than the threshold value (TH) while traveling along the curve.
