Systems and methods for remotely monitoring and verifying the position of a railcar in accordance with embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a computing device for verifying a railcar position includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that when read by the processor cause the computing device to determine a change in a vehicle load condition of a railcar, identify an event corresponding to the change in vehicle load condition, and verify a position of the railcar based on the event. Wherein the event includes an event location, determining a vehicle location of a railcar, establishing a geo-fence based on the vehicle location, determining location information based on the geo-fence, and verifying the vehicle location based on the location information and the event location.
