The invention relates to a method of reducing vibrations in a friction brake, a braking system and a program code. A method for reducing unwanted vibrations in a friction brake (1a-1d) is disclosed. The friction brake has at least one friction surface (2) and at least one brake lining (3) associated with the friction surface. The method comprises the following steps: a) pressing the brake lining (3) against the friction surface (2) with a clamping force (F) in order to convert a braking request into a braking force; and b) modulating the time fluctuation of the clamping force (F) in order to avoid or reduce unwanted vibrations. A corresponding braking system (10) and associated program code are also disclosed.
