The present invention provides an overhead charging system for a parking lot, comprising: a movable charging device configured to supply power to vehicles in the parking lot and to move at least in a horizontal direction on an overhead track extending through a plurality of parking spaces; the acquisition equipment is configured to be capable of acquiring the position of at least one to-be-charged vehicle and the position of at least another movable charging equipment in the parking lot; the control equipment is configured to calculate all potential movement routes for the movable charging equipment based on the position of the vehicle to be charged and the position of another movable charging equipment, and the potential movement routes enable the movable charging equipment to move to the position of the vehicle to be charged from the initial position and return to the initial position; and selecting a target route from all the potential movement routes based on the overlap ratio of the go route and the return route of each potential movement route, controlling the movable charging equipment to start from the initial position to move to charge the to-be-charged vehicle according to the target route, and returning to the initial position after the charging is finished.
