A computer-implemented method includes receiving, at a first one of first electronic devices, a first wireless signal transmitted by a second electronic device attached to a vehicle; a second wireless signal is sent from the first electronic device, and the second electronic device determines the position of the vehicle along the transportation path according to the second wireless signal; receiving, at the first electronic device, a third wireless signal transmitted by the second electronic device, where the third wireless signal identifies a determined location of the vehicle; and transmitting a fourth wireless signal from the first electronic device, where the fourth wireless signal identifies a determined location of the vehicle, where other electronic devices in the first electronic device wirelessly relay a fifth wireless signal along the transport path, where the fifth wireless signal identifies the determined location of the vehicle.
