The invention relates to the technical field of aerial work equipment, in particular to a traveling chassis capable of expanding axles in situ and an aerial work platform, the traveling chassis comprises a main frame, a wheel assembly, a front axle unit and a rear axle unit, and each axle unit comprises a left half-axle structure and a right half-axle structure which are symmetrically arranged and rotationally connected to the main frame; the end, away from the main frame, of each half-bridge structure is rotationally connected with a wheel assembly. The axle unit further comprises a first pushing device and a second pushing device, and the first pushing device can push the half-axle structure to swing relative to the main frame in the horizontal direction. The second pushing device can push the wheel assembly to rotate relative to the half-bridge structure in the horizontal direction till the rolling direction of the wheel assembly is generally consistent with the swinging tangential direction of the half-bridge structure. The wheel assemblies are pushed to rotate until the rolling direction of the wheel assemblies is consistent with the swinging tangential direction of the half-bridge structure, and the wheel assemblies synchronously roll and advance in the swinging process, so that in-situ bridge expansion of the driving chassis is realized.
