The present disclosure relates to a method for calculating a degree of deterioration of a battery and an apparatus for calculating a degree of deterioration of a battery, the method comprising the steps of: acquiring a duration during which the battery is in a first state when a usage state of the battery changes from the first state to a second state; detecting whether the acquired duration time is greater than or equal to first reference time or not; calculating an average temperature of the battery based on a first algorithm when the duration is less than a first reference time, and calculating an average temperature of the battery based on a second algorithm when the duration is greater than or equal to the reference time; and calculating a degree of battery degradation based on the calculated average temperature.
