The invention relates to a vehicle steering system (10), comprising:-at least one servomotor (18),-a steering handle (12), by means of which a desired driver steering angle (FW) can be specified by the driver; a control unit (24) having a driver assistance function (32), by means of which an assistance steering angle (AW) for actuating the servomotor (18) can be set independently of the driver; and the controller has at least one further function (34) by means of which a restoring torque can be set in accordance with the obtained angular difference in order to reduce the angular difference; wherein, if the driver specifies the driver steering angle (FW) when the driver assistance function (32) is activated, the restoring torque can be set by means of a further function (34) on the basis of the angular difference between the driver steering angle (FW) and the assistance steering angle (AW). The invention further relates to a method for operating a vehicle steering system (10) and to a vehicle having a vehicle steering system (10).
