The present disclosure provides a material handling vehicle comprising: a power unit comprising: a steering wheel and a steering device for generating a steering control signal; a load handling assembly coupled to the power unit; the controller is located on the power unit and used for receiving a steering control signal; and a sensing device on the power unit and coupled to the controller. The sensing device monitors an area in front of and alongside the vehicle. Based on the sensed device data, the controller may modify at least one of the following vehicle parameters: a maximum allowable steering angle or a ratio of the steering wheel to the steering device.
