The invention relates to a tire tread wear and road condition measuring device. A tire having a tread depth measurement device includes first and second electrodes fixed to an inner surface of the tire, and an oscillator electrically connected to the electrodes such that a capacitance between the electrodes affects a frequency of the oscillator. Changes in oscillator frequency can be used to detect and calculate changes in tire thickness and changes in tire tread depth.
