The present disclosure provides a system and method for decentralized mixed space autonomous last mile cargo delivery. Systems and methods for decentralized hybrid air-ground autonomous last mile cargo delivery are disclosed herein. A drone may include a controller configured to cause the drone to leave a docking station of a vehicle; transmitting a discovery message to available vehicles in the operating area, the discovery message having drone metadata; selecting one of the available vehicles or at least one of the nearest fixed docking stations based on the response code received from the available vehicles; and docking with the docking station of the one of the available vehicles or the nearest fixed docking station.
