The invention relates to a charging robot and a charging method. The charging robot comprises a mechanical arm used for being in butt joint with a to-be-charged vehicle; and the vehicle body is connected with the mechanical arm, the height of the vehicle body is lower than that of a chassis of the vehicle, and the vehicle body is used for moving to the position below the chassis of the vehicle so as to be in butt joint with the vehicle through the mechanical arm. According to the charging robot and the charging method, the height of the vehicle body is lower than the height of the chassis of the vehicle, the charging robot can move below the vehicle, an aisle of a garage does not need to be used, and use of the charging robot is not affected even in an occasion with a narrow aisle.
