The disclosed embodiments include techniques for improving safety mechanisms in computer aided driving and/or autonomous driving (CA/AD) vehicles to protect vulnerable road users (VRUs). Various embodiments include various mechanisms for implementing an early responsibility sensitive safety (RSS) check of CA/AD vehicle driving strategies to protect a VRU in danger. Embodiments also include a controlled forwarding mechanism for notifying other CA/AD vehicles and roadside infrastructure when a potential hazardous situation is detected.
