The invention relates to an intelligent road train and a driving control system and method. The intelligent road train comprises a plurality of vehicles and connecting pieces connected between the adjacent vehicles. The plurality of vehicles comprise a first driving vehicle and a plurality of following vehicles; the connecting piece is mounted between the rear side end of the front vehicle and the front side end of the rear vehicle; the driving control system and the driving control method are used for realizing that under the trackless condition, a driving vehicle is driven by a person, a running track is generated, and a following vehicle is driven in an unmanned manner and follows along the running track; the labor cost of drivers is effectively reduced, the energy consumption of all vehicles is reduced, and meanwhile the road passing efficiency is improved.
