The system (1) comprises a receiving antenna (21) carried by the aircraft (20), which receives the millimeter waves (4) and converts them into a current for powering the power plant of the aircraft (20). The system (1) further comprises means for positioning the aircraft (20) relative to the transmitting antenna (11) and means for moving the transmitting antenna (11) or the receiving antenna (21) depending on the position of one of the transmitting antenna (11) and the receiving antenna (21). In this way, as long as the receiving antenna (21) is receiving the millimeter waves (4) transmitted by the transmitting antenna (11), the aircraft (20) can fly while being powered by an external electrical energy source, i.e., a power station (10), without time and distance limitations.
