The present invention provides a rubber composition comprising at least NBR as a rubber component, and wherein the adhesion between rubber and metal is at least equivalent to the adhesion exhibited by a rubber composition comprising a cobalt salt. The rubber composition includes a rubber component and a rubber-metal adhesion promoter. The rubber component contains NBR in an amount of at least 10 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component. The rubber-metal adhesion promoter contains at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a metal salt (1) of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and a compound (2) having a specific structure.
