A system and method for controlling PE component cooling of an electric vehicle, the system including: a drive load determiner configured to estimate a weight of the vehicle and determine a drive load level based on the estimated weight; and a PE component temperature controller configured to change a cooling start reference temperature of the PE component according to the determined driving load level.
