The invention provides a steel pipe column verticality adjusting device and a verticality adjusting method, and the steel pipe column verticality adjusting device comprises a sensor assembly which at least comprises a double-shaft tilt angle sensor; the sensor assembly is installed at the column top of the steel pipe column. The control device is in data connection with the double-shaft tilt angle sensor; the laser emitter is arranged on the sensor assembly and is adjustable relative to the position of the sensor assembly, a laser beam emitted by the laser emitter is parallel to the central axis of the steel pipe column, and a plane formed by the x axis and the y axis in the double-axis tilt angle sensor is perpendicular to the laser beam. According to the verticality adjusting device for the steel pipe column, the steel pipe column is installed at high precision through the double-shaft tilt angle sensor, the relative position of the double-shaft tilt angle sensor is adjusted through the laser beam emitted by the laser emitter, the principle is simple, operation is convenient, implementation is easy, and installation precision is high.
