A coverless fuel door assembly includes a body pivotally supported within a vehicle housing between a closed position and an open position. The main body includes an outer projection that presents an inclined slide. A spring is fixed to the housing and includes an extension portion supported against an end stop position of the protrusion to apply the body in the closed position, the end stop position defining a first end of the inclined slide, wherein opening of the body about the pivot causes the closing force to decrease when the spring portion is displaced along the inclined slide to the second end to achieve the open position.
