The present disclosure provides a self-tapping plastic bump for injection molding a part. A molded part includes a plurality of surfaces and a projection extending from one of the plurality of surfaces. The projection includes a body and an aperture extending through a central portion of the body. The projection also includes a first pocket extending through a sidewall of the body and into the aperture and a second pocket extending through an opposing sidewall of the body and into the aperture. The first pocket and the second pocket each define an inwardly tapered wall. The first pocket and the second pocket are axially spaced apart along the body and diametrically opposed.
