The invention relates to a robotic unmanned aerial vehicle with a mounting mechanism. A robotic unmanned aerial vehicle (UARV) capable of flying onto an object such as a palm tree, hovering in place near the object, securely and releasably mounting itself to a mounting location on the object using a mounting mechanism, and performing one or more utility functions using incorporated utility systems, for example, palm branches and leaves are trimmed using a cutting tool.
