Various embodiments disclosed include an illustrative power distributor for an electric vehicle charging system, a charging system, and a method of sensing the presence of a charging coupler in a casing of the power distributor. In an exemplary embodiment, a power distributor for an electric vehicle charging system includes a housing. The charging coupler is configured to distribute direct current power. A housing jacket is disposed on the housing and is configured to receive the charging coupler therein. A housing sensor is configured to sense the presence of the charging coupler in the housing and is further configured to generate a signal indicative of the presence of the charging coupler in the housing.
