The present disclosure provides a system and method for securely limiting vehicle maneuverability by an unconscious user. Systems and methods are provided for using a blockchain to ensure limited maneuverability of a vehicle by an unconscious driver. A vehicle system uses a blockchain to protect and disclose such vehicle deactivations, prevent erroneous activation/deactivation of vehicles, and save this information to a shared ledger. Sensor systems (e.g., alcohol interlock sensors, internal sensors, and external sensors) located on the vehicle may access this information with a fleet manager, OEM, and/or user. For example, when an alcohol interlock sensor is activated, it transmits a test request. Other sensors may then identify the request and find known persons within or near the vehicle. In a similar manner, whether a test has been performed and the results of the test may be verified by other nodes (e.g., sensors/modules in the vehicle). After confirming that the driver is not awake, the vehicle may be deactivated.
