The present disclosure provides "Single Pedal Driving Filtering and Rate Limiting of Powertrain Torque". A vehicle includes: a powertrain having an electric machine configured to provide power to a driven wheel; an accelerator pedal; and a brake pedal. The controller is programmed to: selectively brake the vehicle via operation of the electric machine in response to a torque required by a driver corresponding to a position of the accelerator pedal; further in response to a speed of the vehicle being greater than a threshold, limiting a rate of change of the driver-requested torque commanded to the powertrain based on a first rate limit; and further in response to the speed being less than another threshold, limiting a rate of change of the driver-requested torque commanded to the powertrain based on a second rate limit that is higher than the first rate limit such that for a given driver-requested torque, the speed is less than the other threshold. Acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle are more sensitive than when the first rate limit is applied.
