The present invention is a propulsion system capable of improving charging efficiency by controlling the temperature of a battery to a temperature suitable for charging. A propulsion system is provided with: a gas turbine attached to an aircraft; a generator connected to the gas turbine; a storage battery for storing the power generated by the generator; a motor driven by electric power from the generator and/or electric power from the battery; a rotor driven by the motor; a first flow path through which a first fluid discharged from the gas turbine flows; a second flow path for circulating a second fluid flowing in the vicinity of the battery; a heat exchanger that exchanges heat between the first fluid and the second fluid; a control device that controls the opening and closing of a flow path opening/closing valve provided in the first flow path; and a temperature detection means for detecting the temperature of the storage battery, and when the temperature detected by the temperature detection means is equal to or less than a first temperature, the control device opens the flow path opening/closing valve, thereby causing the first fluid to flow through the heat exchanger and heat the storage battery.
