The invention provides a method and system for controlling a vehicle and the vehicle. In an exemplary embodiment, a method includes: monitoring a line of sight of a driver of a vehicle; monitoring a current traffic condition around the vehicle; predicting an intention of the driver to perform a lane change maneuver based on the sight line, a history of the sight line of the driver and a current traffic condition; and controlling, by the processor, the vehicle based on the predicted driver's intent to make the lane changing maneuver.
