The invention provides a single-wheel steering mechanism. The single-wheel steering mechanism comprises a driving part; the directional wheel assembly is arranged below the driving part; the steering shaft is vertically arranged on one side of the driving part; the top end of the steering shaft is in driving connection with the driving part; the bottom end of the steering shaft is in driving connection with the directional wheel assembly; the control part is electrically connected with the driving part; the limiting module comprises a cam arranged on the steering shaft in a sleeving mode and a limiting piece arranged on the outer side of the cam. The cam is connected with the steering shaft; the limiting piece is electrically connected with the driving part, and when the rotation angle of the steering shaft exceeds a threshold value, the cam extrudes the limiting piece, so that the limiting piece is triggered. The cam is connected with the steering shaft so that the cam can rotate along with the steering shaft. When the rotating angle of the steering shaft exceeds a threshold value, the cam extrudes the limiting piece, and therefore the limiting piece is triggered. Also provided is a method. The limiting piece is electrically connected with the driving part, after the limiting piece is triggered, the control part changes output of the driving part, the steering shaft can rotate backwards, and the situation that the steering angle is too large can be avoided.
