The method comprises the following steps: step 1, installing an image acquisition module for shooting scene images in a vehicle driving process, a vehicle positioning module and a communication transmission module for transmitting vehicle positioning information; 2, acquiring whether the information of the vehicle needs to be positioned and tracked according to the image of the license plate; 3, acquiring position information points through an image acquisition module in the vehicle; 4, through the vehicle positioning module, analyzing the position of the vehicle; 5, transmitting the information of the vehicle to a mobile communication terminal for receiving the positioning information of the vehicle through a communication transmission module; and 6, checking the information of the vehicle through the mobile communication terminal. The invention provides a method for supporting large-scale vehicle real-time positioning and tracking calculation, and solves the problems that the existing vehicle positioning and tracking system cannot perform long-distance positioning and tracking on outdoor and indoor vehicles and is not beneficial to improving the application range and the positioning precision.
