In a metal-(fiber-reinforced resin material (FRP)) complex, when a FRP and a metallic member are bonded to each other, an internal stress (a thermal stress) is generated as the result of misfit between a coefficient of thermal expansion of the metallic member and a coefficient of thermal expansion of the FRP, the detachment of an adhesive layer occurs, the mechanical properties of the FRP cannot be achieved, and the defect in appearance (surface deflection) also occurs. In these situations, the present invention addresses the problem of relaxing the internal stress to prevent the occurrence of surface deflection while retaining mechanical properties necessary for use as a complex. A metal-(fiber-reinforced resin material (FRP)) complex of the present invention can solve the problem by sandwiching an FRP by two metallic members, wherein at least one of the metallic members and the FRP are not joined (bonded) to each other. In another method, an intermediate member may be arranged between each of the metallic members and the FRP so that the FRP can be sandwiched by both of the metallic members with the intermediate members interposed therebetween.
