According to the invention, highway traffic accident data and corresponding road alignment data are collected, then the accident data and the road alignment data are classified, and multiple collinearity inspection is carried out after virtual variables are set. A statistical modeling technology oriented to multi-source hierarchical data is used to screen linear parameters having significant influence on the severity of highway traffic accidents. Finally, by means of an elastic analysis method, the influence of different road alignment parameters on the highway accident severity degree is quantified, and therefore bad alignment design is checked. The technical scheme adopted by the invention is a road alignment potential safety hazard checking method for the severity of highway accidents.
