The invention relates to a noise reduction system for a ductless propulsion rotor of an aircraft. The invention discloses a noise reduction system (140) for an aircraft. The noise reduction system comprises a cyclic pitch mechanism (108) arranged to apply a cyclic pitch stroke to rotor blades of a ductless propulsion rotor (UPR) (110) under the control of a processor (150). The processor receives input data corresponding to a position and attitude of the UPR, a position of one or more ground points stored in a memory (149), and a speed of the aircraft. If the processor determines that the ground point will enter the plane of the UPR, a control signal is output to the cyclic pitch mechanism as needed to adjust the phase of the cyclic pitch stroke, so that the azimuth angle position of the ground point entering the plane of the UPR is located within an azimuth angle interval in which the ground point enters the plane of the UPR. The blade pitch of the cyclic pitch stroke is lower than its average value, thereby reducing noise in the direction of the ground point.
