The invention provides a straight right lane traffic control method which comprises the following steps: step 1, setting a variable lane area on a straight right lane; step 2, acquiring vehicle queuing information of a straight lane and a main signal timing period of an intersection; step 3, obtaining a control instruction according to the vehicle queuing information and the intersection main signal timing period; and 4, according to the control instruction, displaying a variable lane indication sign, and prompting whether a straight-going vehicle can enter a variable lane or not. The invention further provides a straight-right lane traffic control system which comprises the variable lane marked lines, the geomagnetic sensor, a data processing module and an LED display screen. According to the straight right lane traffic control method and system provided by the invention, the delay of right-turning vehicles during the red light period can be effectively reduced, the parking frequency is reduced, and the congestion condition caused by the fact that the straight right lane is occupied by straight vehicles is relieved.
