The invention relates to a pulley variable-speed nonlinear magnetic coupling arresting cable that utilizes a magnetic retarder to slow and brake a landing and skating aircraft, and the cable comprises a cable collector, a longitudinal sliding guide rail, an arresting damper, a reset damper, a cable collector reset driving device, a magnetic retarder, a winding drum, a movable pulley, a fixed pulley, a transmission cable, an arresting cable body and other key components. The sliding speed of the cable collector and the rotating speed of the winding drum are changed through combined use of the movable pulley and the fixed pulley, so that the proper longitudinal sliding guide rail length and the optimal working rotating speed of the winding drum are sought. In order to guarantee a good clutch function and reliability during continuous working, a liquid cooling type maximum load adjustable magnetic retarder can be adopted. In order to reduce the instantaneous tension peak value in a steel cable and reduce the vibration level of an arresting cable during airplane cable hooking, a pulley buffering device needs to be additionally arranged. In order to facilitate remote automatic control, a motor or a hydraulic motor can be used for driving the winding drum to rotate to reset the arresting cable. In order to ensure the tensioning of the transmission cable, a pulley tensioning device can be additionally arranged.
