The invention aims to provide a water conservancy project riverway sludge impurity monitoring system and method. The system comprises a front-end acquisition device, a transmission device and a rear-end platform; the front-end acquisition device comprises a detection element and a sludge sampling device; the detection element and the sludge sampling device report the positions of the detection element and the sludge sampling device in real time; the transmission device transmits data and position information acquired by the detection element and the sludge sampling device into the rear-end platform; the rear-end platform performs statistics, analysis and processing on the acquired data; and an intelligent analysis module used for predicting the position of river sludge according to a water level value, a flow value and a flow velocity value is arranged in the rear-end platform; and according to tracked riverway sludge positions, the rear-end platform controls the sludge sampling device to sequentially navigate to the tracked riverway sludge positions to perform sludge sampling. The problem that riverway sludge cannot be tracked and monitored in time in existing water conservancy project riverway sludge impurity monitoring is solved, and the effect of improving the accuracy of a water conservancy project riverway sludge impurity monitoring result is achieved.
